In September 2023, APEO initiated the participation of local entrepreneurs in Garissa County to support community afforestation program at Maalimin Ward with over 2000 households and one of the areas most affected by the 2023 devastating drought.

One of the local hotels, Tana Gardens Hotel, funded the production of 10,000 indigenous tree seedlings for planting in early 2024.
